Status: November 2025
We are pleased that you are using our pollen forecast app. The protection of your privacy is of the utmost importance to us. Our principle is “data minimization”: We have designed our app so that as little personal data as possible is processed.
In this privacy policy, we inform you about which data is processed during the use of the app. In summary: We do not create user profiles, we do not save IP addresses in logs, and we do not track your behavior. All settings remain on your device.
Responsible for data processing within the meaning of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is:
Mindweb GmbH

In order to display pollen information for your current location, the app requires access to your location. In doing so, we preferably access the approximate location – provided this is supported by your device and selected by you.
How we process the data:
To be able to show you the pollen information for your current location, the app transmits your approximate location to our server. Here, we employ a procedure to protect your identity:
Immediate Anonymization and Storage:
The location coordinates (longitude and latitude) are technically shortened on your device – even before they reach our server. Through this process, the location is coarsened to such an extent that no conclusion can be drawn about your exact location (e.g., house number or street) or your person. We subsequently store only these anonymized, approximate location details in our database and supplement them with pollen data.
Legal Basis:
The transmission for retrieving the data takes place on the basis of the performance of a contract (Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. b GDPR) as well as Section 25 Para. 1 TDDDG (access to the end device). The subsequent storage and processing of the shortened data is no longer subject to the restrictions of the GDPR, as there is no personal reference.
3.2. Communication with the Server (Technical Data)
When your app sends a request to our server (e.g., “What is the pollen count at location XY?”), it is technically necessary for your IP address to be transmitted to the server so that it can send the answer back to your device.
No Server Logs:
We have configured our servers so that no log files (server logs) are created that store your IP address. Your IP address is used only transiently for the moment of data transmission and is not stored permanently.
All settings that you make in the app (e.g., selection of favorite pollen types, notification settings) are stored exclusively locally on your end device. This data is not transmitted to our servers.
For the app to function, it requests access to certain functions of your device:
We employ modern technical security measures to protect data transmission. The entire communication between the app on your end device and our servers takes place exclusively via an encrypted connection. This prevents third parties from reading the transmitted data (such as the approximate location coordinates) while it is in transit through the internet.
There is no transfer of your data to third parties for advertising purposes.
For the operation of our app and the provision of the databases, we use the services of an external hosting provider. For this purpose, we use servers from:
Hetzner Online GmbH
Industriestr. 25
91710 Gunzenhausen, Germany
Location of Data Processing:
The servers used by us are located exclusively in data centers in Germany.
Legal Basis and Data Processing:
The use of Hetzner is based on our legitimate interest in a secure, fast, and efficient provision of our online service (Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. f GDPR). We have concluded a Data Processing Agreement (DPA) with Hetzner Online GmbH in accordance with Art. 28 GDPR. This guarantees that the service provider processes the data only according to our instructions and in compliance with the GDPR.
Since we do not permanently store any personal data (such as names, e-mail, or IP addresses), we generally cannot provide information about your person, as we cannot identify “you” in our systems. Nevertheless, according to the GDPR, you generally have the following rights:
If you wish to complain to a supervisory authority, you have the right to do so in accordance with Art. 77 GDPR. The authority responsible for us is the Hamburg Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information.
If you have questions about data protection in our app, you can contact us by e-mail at any time: allergy-alert@mindweb.studio.
